ear worm
I have a song going through my head all the time. Right now it’s Hall & Oats “Rich Girl” (don’t ask!) It keeps swirling around with “You Make my Dreams”. I hate Hall and Oats. I don’t want these songs in my brain! I have felt quite powerless over the tunes until I read this little revelation. The portion of your brain that keeps the mental jukebox playing is the same that does math. Do math and the song stops. I tried it last night. I was going out of my mind with the preamble of the constitution from Schoolhouse Rocks.

OK 857 x 75 ……And sure enough, while I was calculating it in my mind I noticed that I couldn’t hear the song! When I finished the sum the song came back but I finally knew how i could at least get a minute of relief. And After I worked on a few more problems it had dislodged itself and I fell asleep.
